We have a consulate appointment for Feb 6th but nothing else. This means that we’ll leave for China probably sometime at the end of January and most likely will be back before Feb 12th. Of course I could be wrong because these are just extrapolations.
What we do know is that Lili will be in our arms by Feb 6th if not before. As we get more news we’ll let you know. -t
Yes we are fairly similar to Sgt. Schultz “We know nothing….”, about travel that is. As soon as we know when we’ll be leaving and can book tickets, we’ll let you know as well. Hopefully we’ll hear something in the next few days. We do have a travel meeting at our adoption agency on Tuesday but the purpose of that meeting is to tell us what and how much to pack. As well as what to bring and what to buy over there, (almost everything). In fact almost as soon as we get to hold Lili, they’ll take/march us to the closest Wal-Mart – yes Wal-Mart – where we’ll buy diapers, formula, sleepers, etc.
I apologize for the lack of recent postings but Catherine is away in Chicago at a weekend-long baby shower with her Chicago friends and graduate school is finally catching up with me. So any posts this week most likely will come from her because I’m delving into the mysteries of Avid Technology’s financial statements from 1996 – they are page-turners and I highly recommend 1995’s financial statements as well. http://www.avid.com/

Sara Lee finished the room yesterday in time for leisurely brunch of chiles relleno and raisin biscuits. After which she posed for the obligatory photo holding a photo of Lili.
Unlike Catherine and myself, Sara Lee likes to be at the train station 20-30 minutes before departure to ensure there are no problems, which was a good thing because a schedule reading mishap meant Sara Lee’s planned 2:55 train actually departed at 2:25. The combination of Sara Lee’s caution, my “opportunistic driving” and Amtrak’s inability to depart on time, helped Sara Lee make her train back to New York leaving us with what we think is the coolest baby’s room ever.
These are only some of the animals. The Monkeys reside in the bamboo in the book nook, and the huge bird wearing a rugby jersey is protecting the door from poachers….

Although she took a few hours off to enjoy dinner with us at one of our favorite restaurants, La Laiterie – http://lalaiterie.farmsteadinc.com/ , our friend Sara Lee has pretty much been painting non-stop, powered almost exclusively by Chex party mix and the Gypsy Kings. As you can see much has happened since the last pictures.
I inadvertently insulted Sara Lee by asking her if the animals were going to have eyes – her head almost exploded and she started invoking her many advanced art degrees by using 9-syllable art words which I think mostly meant – What are you? An idiot? After many mea culpas and an offering of tea to appease the artist, I think she forgave me. Apparently I was being a little impatient, as you can see below.
The walls simply look amazing and Catherine and I are truly lucky to have such a talented friend give us such an awesome present. Hopefully our daughter will like it as much as we do.
Which animal in the room likes treats? Maggie has been very anxious with all the activity, so we appeased by giving her, her favorite thing in the world – a Kong ball filled with Peanut Butter. It’s the equivalent of doggie crack since Maggie will do just about anything in order to get one and it keeps her completely occupied for about 45 minutes.
